Rose Genus Details

section divider
Roses are originally native to Asia with a few species originally from North America. All roses have alternate, pinnately compound leaves and most species have thorns. Petals are often used as a garnish in salads. Roses are familiar cut flowers in many bouquets and arrangements. The pulpy fruits or "hips" are high in Vitamin C and used in medicines as well as jellies. In herbal medicine, red rose petals are used for their mild astringency and tonic value.
